Binnen de HMR spelen veel thema’s. Voor het komende jaar hebben we drie punten waar we extra aandacht aan gaan besteden:

Goede Stageplekken

De kwaliteit van stageplekken moet goed worden onderzocht. Erg veel studenten hebben met dit probleem te maken. Veel stageplekken worden niet goed uitgeplozen door de stagebureaus om te kijken of de stageplekken wel degelijk aansluiten bij de stageopdrachten van de student. Het komt te vaak voor dat studenten op een stageplek aankomen en erachter komen dat de stageplek totaal niet aansluit bij de uit te voeren opdrachten die door de school verplicht worden gesteld. Het is daarom belangrijk dat er veel meer en gedetailleerder onderzoek wordt gedaan naar de kwaliteit van deze stageplekken en de aansluiting hiermee op de student.

Didactische vaardigheden van docenten

De didactische vaardigheden van de docenten moeten worden onderhouden en geëvalueerd.

Kwalitatieve colleges

De kwaliteiten van colleges moet zeer goed zijn, zodat de student deze als nuttig beschouwd ter voorbereiding van de tentamens.

Priority points for International Students

The Hanze University should create a better environment for international students. This is an important step in the internationalization of the University. We want to achieve the following:

1. Understandable information. International students always find it a big barrier for them that most of the Hanze documents, even the ones concerning them, are provided in Dutch. This situation should be improved in order for the Hanze to become more and more international.

2. Less financial burdens. International students are more likely to experience financial problems, because they pay higher tuition fee (non EU students) and get less/no financial support or social welfare from the government compared to their Dutch classmates. Therefore, the Hanze University should re-evaluate the tuition fee to make it more affordable for the international students. These students should pay for education, not for the financial problems of the University. Furthermore, provide more work opportunities for them, for example teaching assistant positions.

3. International students meet a lot of problems particularly when they’ve just come to Groningen. A systematic support, such as a handbook for the international student, is necessary to provide sufficient information regarding details about how to live in the Netherlands.
